In Cantonese, eight (八, baat) rhymes with 發 (faat), to prosper. That's the green 發 tile in every set. We built a set around that idea: clean design, good weight in the hand, and a little luck at every table.
Founding 18 · 十八 = 實發. In Cantonese, eighteen (sap baat) sounds like 實發, "sure to prosper". The first 18 founding pre-orders get a numbered 發 tile, 1 to 18, to keep or gift.

Eight is the luckiest number at a Cantonese table, because 八 sounds like 發, the green "prosper" tile. Our Chinese name 八雀 (baat zoek) means "eight" plus 雀, the Cantonese word for mahjong.
